Up in the base area getting to my stake means wallowing through over waist deep snow.  It is now quite the chore, ha.

You could cannon ball out of second story windows though.

The window view out of our office now... need to do some roof cleaning.

Hahaha I waded into it to take photos today near Smuggs and I wish I had a place to jump in :)

Awesome. Best conditions of the season and no bitter cold.

Yeah and what has really helped is that there has been fluff but also some really dense snow too.   I know we've talked about these later season (or early season) upslope that tends to be more QPF rich and can be seen by some of the 10:1 or even under that ratios around some of the area CoCoRahs reports.

Like this morning when I found 11" at 1,500ft you can see the graupel and "balls" type texture on the top of the snow...not stuff that's the airy fluff.  Yesterday was much more "fluffy" snow but today's extra 11-15" you skied on top of instead of sinking deep into it.

OfVgT8o.jpg

Then a view out the office back door to the ski slopes and you can tell its a denser baking soda type snow.  This storm was less total snow than the storm that hit the same time last winter but I think this one has had more total moisture added to the snowpack.

The graph's haven't been updating but yesterday the NWS reported 100" stake depth.

The other thing to note on this... is that my snowfall readings are coming about 1,000 vertical feet lower than this stake.  Mine is about two-thirds of the way up the mountain which had 65" in those 8 days the stake jumped.  But its certainly possible the snowfall 1,000ft higher was decently higher, maybe another foot over that time?

The skiing has been a bit too off the hook to post much, but we were at Stowe on Wednesday and Bolton on Thursday, so I’m passing along some images from the outings.  Additional images and trip reports are available through the linked text.

I can't say I remember ever seeing so much difference between south of the notch and north of the notch. There's a pretty pedestrian snowpack till you get to Lincoln, and then it goes up really rapidly through and north of the notch. Not sure my driveway can handle one more storm lol... but hey, I can always snowshoe.

I think this warrants a trip north tomorrow or Sunday!  Alex,  pictures around the house please.  Jeez even the webcam pic is getting covered with snow.

I'm no JSpin or PF but I did take the afternoon off to go snowmobiling.  We rode around the Central VT towns of Washington, Chelsea, Randolph, Brookfield and Williamstown.  You could definitely tell what areas were stuck under the band that delivered the bigger totals but there was plenty of snow in general.
