FYI the Charlotte snow record for today is only 0.2" set in 1920.... If the backside holds, at the very least they'll be able to break it.

I like it when you talk dirty to us! My whole life i've never lucked out on a stationary backside band. It seems those almost always park over a small area dump and way more snow than forecasted. Hoping my name is drawn out of the hat this time.

Still pouring snow big fat flakes on the NW side of Cumming. Temp steady at 32.2. Loving it. Might not see this duration and intensity of heavy fat flakes the rest of my life. Enjoying while I can!

Yeah I think it's safe to say the band is going to produce and then some for us. David chandley on fox 5 is actually forecasting 3 to 5 inches more...and made mention of additional 7 or 8. That would put some over a foot. 

This is easily one of the top snows but when you consider how early in the year it is, it's really historic for some locals.

The band that was over Lookout and NeGa is now here. HUGE flakes. Covering the pavement now even.

Mostly snow since 10 this morning in Winston, moderate to heavy since 3pm. Approaching 3", fatties are falling, upstream looks juicy. 32/30

That’s for sure. In January this is a doozy. But in early dec - and WAY overperforming for a change - is shocking lol. Closing in on 4” here. If we get another 2 overnight this is the biggest snowstorm here in quite a few years

From latest GSP discussion:

As of 430 PM EST Friday: Because of complications in how the
ProbSnow grids work, had to make some adjustments to the storm
totals and they now begin at 00z tonight...so the storm total accum
on our website will be *in addition to* what`s already fallen. Some
concern about some of the Upstate and NC Piedmont Counties that are
in the Advisory, if they need to be upgraded to warning. Not enough
information to do that at this time but if reports continue to pile
up may need to jump on that sometime this evening. The heavier bands
that moved through the Upstate this afternoon have pushed E, but
additional banding will continue off and on through the evening.

Measured 3-4 inches on the grass with the snow still coming down at a solid clip.  And that's after a decent bit this morning before it changed to rain for a few hours.  Winter is good.

I'm now at freezing. Mix of snow, sleet, and zr. The ground and deck surfaces are glazed over!

So waiting to issue a warning after warning criteria is met? Is that really forecasting?

John Cessarich just confirmed that this is indeed occurring. Once the sun went down, the r/s line sank south.

I've been easing down all day, now right at freezing, started the day around 40. I'm pretty far north and east though. I did see the undulation of temps also though with rate changes. Everything is getting solid. Noticeable glaze accumulation.

Tough position for GSP to be in for sure.  One issue are large counties where one side is covered with snow while the other is mostly rain.  No win sit for them.
