...CENTER OF HURRICANE IRMA MAKES LANDFALL AT MARCO ISLAND...

The center of Hurricane Irma made landfall in Marco Island in
southwest Florida at 3:35 pm EDT as a Category 3 hurricane.
A 130 mph wind gust was recently reported by the Marco Island Police
Department.

Seems like they'll get mostly WNW winds in Tampa so a more moderate surge.

UNTIL 530 PM EDT...

At 402 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking bands of rain and showers
associated with the southern parts of Hurricane Irma. These bands
will bring frequent episodes of blinding rain, and wind gusts up to
55 mph will be possible.

Locations impacted include...
Marathon, East End Of Long Key Viaduct, Seven Mile Bridge, East End
Of Channel 5 Bridge, West End Of Channel 5 Bridge, East End Of Seven
Mile Bridge, Jewfish Creek Bridge, Long Key Viaduct, Key Largo and
Channel 5 Bridge.

This includes US 1 between mile markers 37 and 112.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring, and may lead to localized
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
