Thought I would take advantage of the last day of unseasonable sunny warmth, get out and do a bit of hiking today. Headed up into SW VA to the App Trail and hit some high old USDA Forest Survey Markers. A little early morning chill gave away to a comfortable climb and t-shirt weather. 72° F with a cool breeze in the afternoon on the 22nd Day of October at 4,000 ft. Can't beat that! All in all a beautiful day on the trails.

Thinking most of the Valley scores really nice totals tomorrow. Plenty of 2" being projected across the TVA Watershed, even up here in our neck of the woods. I'm more confident with all the mesoscales holding hands and lifting that surface low right up over the Smokies and Blue Ridge. Bring it!3331de72769ba726300a94fbbf4a7ffa.jpg

Saw some pics on FB this AM of flooding in Roan Mountain yesterday.  I will see if I can get permission to post a few.  Water got crazy high in places.  Here is a story from the JC Press, but doesn't quite encompass the scope of the impact.
