It may be Meteorologic first day of Autumn ...  and the Julian-based recognition in 20 days ?

But the here and now reality of Nature says it is Fall out there one way or the other.

Classic shot across the bow air mass here - in fact, it is aggressive enough that it is more than that.  Snow was in the air in eastern Ontario above that latitude of Ottawa overnight - at least it was modeled in short terms to do so...

It may seem right on top of climo?  Relative to all, I suspect it is a huge anomaly though ...if perhaps masked and unnoticed.

But given the cool temps this morning and dews in the 30s, a pocket of drier air aloft could certainly have squeezed out a few mangled flakes.

I was wondering because we had a min of 33F at 4kft....now up to 35F but there was a thick above freezing layer to get flakes even to 2,500ft.

Guess dry air could do it.
