While everyone is watching Irma, its a warm humid day here today...Temp up to 85 with a 70 dp...Looks like a good soaking with cold front and wave... 1-2 inches looks likely, mainly later tonight thru tomorrow night.

Yeah even a watch issued for western parts of the area. Some storms popping up out ahead of the main line

Not that there is too much interest but that line of showers and a few storms is not as impressive as it looks on radar.  Have had a couple of downpours with multiple severe warnings however have probably not heard more than a dozen claps of thunder with it.

I'll corroborate this with the caveat that the gust front was a MONSTER.  It came in about 60+ MPH and I thought all hell was about to break loose.  Like nothing happened for 20 minutes and now it's lightly raining.  Hmm.

Very dark in Lake Grove right now, but that strong cell over the ocean looks to slide to the east of here and impact eastern LI. So unfair.

I can hear the thunder from that severe cell to my SE. The doppler velocities are as impressive as I have seen for South of Long Island.

Yeah, 75mph, possibly 80mph, is the highest storm velocity I've seen around here, this thing is moving quickly. It's a good thing such forward motion in thunderstoms doesn't have as much of an affect on the surface winds, unlike hurricanes.

Wind damage reported as that cell crossed Suffolk.

63 here currently, quite a change from yesterdays 87 degrees...Also nowhere near the forecast high in the mid 70's. Looks like the midnight 70 degree reading will be my high.

I actually kicked on the AC last night, it was pretty warm and humid.  As for today, it's currently 60° and cloudy.  August to October in one day.
