Last few runs of the GFS and today's 12z EURO bring Maria really close to NJ/NE type landfall. The EURO was fun it kind of used Jose's remnants as a pendulum and closes in on landfall before escaping NE. Tonight's 00z GFS was very close with a still very strong Maria at making landfall in NJ. Between the hours of 150 & 168 hours Maria makes a fairly sharp NW turn before escaping E. I know we just got teased with Jose and it is very far out there, but I think this could end up being a close call.

Stay safe.

Damage!

WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT FRIDAY...

* Location...Eastern Massachusetts and most of Rhode Island.

* Winds...North 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* Timing...Through Thursday night.

* Impacts...Gusty winds will likely down tree limbs and possibly
isolated trees, especially since full foliage remains on our
trees. Isolated power outages may occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong are capable of downing tree limbs and branches,
possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra
caution.

I mean from an impact sense...it carved a path out to sea and looks to take Maria with it.

Ah, yeah, then I'm with you on that aspect. I don't really mind that it missed the northern Leewards after what they endured in Irma, but it definitely could have done something more interesting than sit and rot for the past 8 days

I have a branch down in my yard.  About 15' long, 2" in diameter.  I won't soon forget Jose.

Anyone who took Jose seriously has nobody to blame but themselves-

I had to put away all the outdoor furniture on campus in NYC!!! I tried to explain to management it was a complete and utter waste of time.... I was told "there is a hurricane out there, we are expecting high winds" ummm yeah.
