A nor'easter in July? Has Autumn come ealry?

Decent area of gales along the coast for a surfers delight without any tropical influence. Not every year we see a nearly 4 SD NAO drop in late July.

12z Euro is about 25-50 miles north of last night's run....huge jackpot in far SNJ with close to 9 inches!  LOL

We saw that once in the past I think in the 90s a summer nor'easter that dumped 14" over south jersey and led to major flooding. I think ACY had 13" in 24 hours

Been a weird July here...3 days where temps never got out of the 60's and 10 days of fairly decent heat bookending the cool.  Guess a big ol noreaster would be the !!! point.

Of course it figures that the biggest rainstorm of the season is going to occur while I'm completely out of the area.

The 15z SREF was wet too, 2"+ in NYC proper. 3"+ for parts of coastal NJ.

you missed a biggie earlier this summer too-I think you were in Florida.  Since you won't be here, I'm forecasting a jackpot of 10 inches right over your house from this one.

Yes I did, I was out of the country for ten days so I'm not sure on the exact timing of that.

New Orleans looks surprisingly dry, just normal scattered afternoon storms. I half expected a hurricane to be bearing down on the city when I booked this trip six months ago.

My main concern right now is getting out of dodge before the rains arrive on Friday.

One of my favorites. That was a weird hybrid nor'easter that produced 50mph gusts and minor tree damage on the island. It also caused massive waves and beach erosion. Some of the biggest summer time waves I have even seen with water under the board walk at jones beach.

July 97 I thought we had a classic winter like nor Easter with 3-4 inches of rain and highs like 55-60

I believe the August 97 event over SNJ was close to a 500-1000 year rainfall for that location.

Mid-Atlantic Region
Heavy downpours from thunderstorms hit Atlantic City, New Jersey and caused very severe urban flooding across southern New Jersey. 10.36 inches of rain fell in 3 hours on August 20-21 with a storm total of over 13 inches at the Atlantic City Airport.

Given how cool the weekend may be, we may very well slip into the negatives this month and definitely for Newark and NYC.
