I had to water yesterday because I got nothing out of round 2 from Saturday (only had 0.06" early that morning and round 2 completely disintegrated just as it entered Philly). Hurricane Agnes Posted August 15, 2017 Share Posted August 15, 2017 I got 0.02" very early this morning and just picked up an additional 0.02" from some scattered light rain. Currently 74F and overcast. One thing's for sure, the extra rain we got this past spring and latter half of summer (along with the persistent trough) has pretty much helped to suppress any upper 90s or triple digit temps this summer. It has been great for the veggies! Have a bumper crop of cubanelle and bell peppers coming, with a couple more months of production anticipated. When I was young (1970 I believe) we had one that was close to 95% and I remember writing down observations - the birds got quiet, the temperature dropped about 5 degrees, and of course it got kind of early duskish dark. It's the humidity - I've got that even where I haven't watered. Need that front later next week. Meanwhile I'll take more rain, why not? Have received about 0.75" in the last 10 days, between a quarter last Friday night and 0.48" this past Tuesday, so there's room at the inn.
