Dews getting down to 43F this afternoon...if we are clear and calm tonight it'll get quite crisp in the mountain valleys.

The afternoon dew point rule worked again...

Yesterdays min dew was 43F and the overnight low that followed was 43F at MVL like clockwork.

SLK with 37F lol.

BML with 42F.

HIE with 40F.

Some stations seemed to warm early AM hours or else might have gone lower.  BML was 55F by 4am after a low of 42F at 3am. Huge jump up in one hour.

Looking at the departures so far in August up here, the classic BTV torch is in full effect.

I honestly cannot fathom how BTV is that far above normal, much less above normal at all in this pattern.  From what I've seen this summer, it takes the other three stations to get to about -3 before BTV will dip below normal.

August departures through 8/16 for the primary climo sites in the northern half of Vermont.  One of these is not like the others.  1V4 actually has the longest period of record I think, while MVL is the shortest at just over 30 years.

BTV...+1.8

MPV...-1.2

MVL...-1.7

1V4...-1.5

Torch!

You should move to BTV... you'd love it.  Get all the summer departures you want and never have to see another below normal month again during the warm season.  Great beer and great warm sunsets over the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain.

Like right now, its 73F at BTV, while its 62F at MVL and MPV...an 11 degree difference one county over, from the big valley to the small mountain valleys east of the Spine.

You'd probably get more nights above 70F in the summer at BTV than you do where you are now.

We'll be sitting in the worst ball soup weather of the summer tomorrow and Saturday. Figures ... it's finally righteous and Kevin has no idea?

At least today is a 'cool wet'.

Today
Showers with isolated thunderstorms this morning, then showers with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Patchy fog. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall. Highs in the lower 70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent
