Hum,   GFS says no rain this evening.  HRRR says a good slug of rain.  Amazing difference for such short term.

As surmised the HRRR was over done up here but some narrow axises of up to 1.4" have occurred so far, among a general 0.1-0.4" rainfall.  But aren't going to get multiple counties worth of heavy rains.

So hard to peg down the convection aspects in the models.

Euro was pretty impressive.  Hard to ignore down here.us_model-en-087-0_modez_2017080700_54_519_220.thumb.png.c6fd8307b6a6372c753eca6333fabb76.png

Looking at radar, this looks like an impressive short term bust on the 00z EURO last night.  Like holy crap.

Pretty solid fail for like 18 hours out.  HRRR might have been onto something.

KGON at 0.04" and KWST at 0.06" as of 9pm.  KTAN is up to 0.02".

Hopefully this busts our drought.

We've had a ridiculous amount of synoptic rain events this summer.  Stuff that only has maybe embedded thunder or no thunder...just widespread lift creating heavy rains, though usually with embedded convective elements.  So many fronts, stationary and passages, this summer being on the boundary zone between the heat/humidity further south and the cooler air up north in Canada.  Tons of cyclonic flow, rotating energy down through the region.  Warm fronts nudging  and cold fronts, been active for sure June, July and so far in August.

For those western mass folk, Hampden Charter School of Science is coming to climb at the park today...I wonder why they are coming all the way to Sandwich instead of going to RambleWild? The other day we had the Canton Rec Dept come climb. Canton has their own Aerial Adventure Park. I can't figure out why they keep sending groups to Sandwich...
