Today could be one of the last days this summer that we see a high in the 50's before the 90 degree heat returns next week. We actually saw a similar warm up in June 2015 following the cool start.

Did you get a chance to look at the new SST CA for the summer? It will be interesting to see if the WAR can push back more than the current forecast is showing. Looks like the western edge of the ridge is right along the East Coast. It has the biggest heat signal for the summer out West.

That's a great position for East coast tropical threats.

After today Euro is basically dry for the next 10 days and quite hot next Monday thru Wednesday

Numerous days with 90 or higher potential starting around Sunday will probably erase any cool June departures by later next week.

Upton already has mid 90s Monday

Looks good for the warmer spots with 850's topping out just under 20C. Record high temps are within reach on Monday.

6/12 record highs...EWR...95...NYC...93...LGA...92

850mb. temperature averages 13C over the next 15 days normally, but they remain above 15C for a full 10 days (11-21).     We are going to have 5+ 90deg. days., I think.    Precip. has disappeared too.    Two days ago I mentioned the 95deg. possibility here.

burn baby burn. We deserve this

It finally looks like the spring pattern may be shifting to more of a summer-like one. After the big warm up next week, the trough doesn't return to the East like it has all spring. Longer range, the guidance goes to a trough over the Central US with a warmer ridge on both coasts.

It's long range though and so far we haven't had extended periods of cool or hot. So we'll have to see if things change. Also, it's  only June with lower averages than July and August. Harder to get long heat waves.

Currently 48° lol.. This is just ridiculous

Coolest lows in NYC are usually around 50 in Central Park for the month of June.

I am sure it is much chiller up your way.
