It looks like we are finally getting back into a more active pattern after a relatively long stretch of quiet weather over the last several months. I think this will be a much more active summer which will hopefully spill over into the fall/winter months as well.

The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Flood Advisory for Minor Flooding in Poor Drainage Areas for...
  Suffolk County in southeastern New York...

* Until 515 PM EDT

* At 117 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a large area of heavy rain
  with embedded thunderstorms approaching from the southwest. This
  area has produced 1 to 2 inches of rainfall and will move across
  the area from west to east this afternoon. This will cause minor
  flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor
  flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Islip, Brentwood, Commack, Riverhead, Huntington Station,
  Centereach, Shirley, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Medford, Southold,
  Hauppauge, Ronkonkoma, Huntington and Manorville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
