Hopefully we can get a few downslope dandy days next week like the gfs guidance shows. Gotta be careful as we are north of the warm front and it only takes some redneck on the Mason-Dixon Line to fart and shove it northward.

You didn't ask but ...  I suspect the GFS is in flux catching up with the Euro's idea of a significant pattern flip there...

I bet we see more robust eastern ridging and warm-up emerge in future runs (with the inevitable cycle where it tries to go all the way back just so people can donkey hee-haw posts out knee slap reactionary style) ... Could be wrong and I don't boost confidence in saying that; more like it would not surprise me if -

I'd argue that this has been worse than May 05 so far up here. I think departures were a little greater in SNE than here though. Through the first 10 days of the month ORH and CON are running about 6F BN for max temps with more dreadful days to come. May 05 was near normal for precip too so it's not like we pulled off some kind of obscene 7-8" month.

Probably just parsing personal preference, but May 2005 was a lot of those days with like a 4F diurnal range with temps stuck in the 45-52F range with constant sheet drizzle and misery mist. It's a little different than the current #wheelofrhea airmass where we've been also struggling to get out of the 40s but plenty of dry days...which also knocks the low temps further down into the 30s...so the overall departure is greater but not sure it's worse than some of those sheet drizzle stretches in '05....I think this weekend may give it a run though with a frigid rainstorm.  By next Monday, we're prob gonna be sitting at like -5 or -6  through the first half of the month.

So far it's been very similar to 2005 - not as cold but that's because 2005 had 4 mornings in the mid 20s; highs and precip were very close to 5/1-9 this year.  It was later that 2005 became a hissing-and-byword for May.  The last 17 days that month featured 5 days with highs in the 40s, 7 more in the 50s, 65 as top temp, avg high 10.6F BN, and over 7.5" rain.

Yeah...the first half was cool, but a lot of freezes and fair weather. It was that 7-10 day stretch at the end of the month that was putrid. CON finished the month with 5 days in the 70s and 1 in the 80s. So far they have yet to hit 70F this month. Maybe they can squeak a few out the middle of next week.

Not comparable in the remotest sense... I can't speak for Brian up north but down here SNE it's laughable that anyone would even jest that comparison -

15 MPH, sustained, gusting to 45 every day from the NE, with temps never ranging lower than 39 and higher than 45 for 10 straight days, with no sun - ever!

It's 'fake news' and 'alternative facts' trying mash up then and now as the same ... apples and orange.  so hopefully no dipschit's trying to do that -

Sorry, I just find that insultingly disrespectful to those who actually suffered 2005.  ah hahahaha

It's not remotely close to a disaster. zero rain and plenty of sunny breaks and manageable temps.

Depends. For you, you've had cold nights and chilly temps in the hills this go around. That May, the coast beared the brunt of the disaster. Looks like Saturday and Sunday are 40s for you.

Nah, the storm is missing out to sea...meteorology, not modelology.

Lowest temp was 37. 2 days under 50. No wind with sunny breaks . Not great. Not terrible. One of the two weekend days , if not both above 50 as rain starts mid afternoon Sat and ends early Sunday with pm sun . Point is.. 2005 rained almost everyday. Huge difference

Yes it was but there were some nice days, it was the next to last week that was very cold and rainy. Some made it seem like it rained and was cold every day. Reason I remembered was we won a softball tourney May 15th 16th and I played in shorts.

This has not been the disaster 2005 was on the coast. That was on another level. It's cool but we are getting sun which helps.

We've had a couple more crap days/events this month than down there...4 days with highs in the 40s already here for May. 2005 definitely got off to a better start than we have this month, but the more data I looked at it was obvious that SNE, and especially the coast, had it worse than we did in 05. It's not like I'm claiming it was nice, but the core of the schit was definitely down there.

I think Memorial Day Weekend was just the scar that everyone carries. When people think of May 2005...it's sheet rain and beach erosion. I will say, watching your drink vibrate on the coffee table from waves hitting the seawall was pretty cool.

Now that the Euro is inside of D5 on the coastal low, man... that is sooooo close to being something special there in the form of out-of-season shenanigans.  Real close.

I suspect it probably does fall just shy though, much to our amazement loss.

May have to watch Berkshires up to Greens for a time and then of course the Whites a little later in the period...pretty close to a nuking paste bomb there.

... it's credible now (imo); I needed that inside of D5, but honestly, that N-stream dump into the backside of the coastal mechanics has been in all the guidance persistently; its an insert of cold air that I have been wondering about.  didn't wanna bring it up until we wheel-housed it -

Are you talking here and May 2005?  I only had measurable precip on 14 out of 31 days in May 2005.  We did have that one 7 day stretch from the 21st that it rained every day but other than that, it wasn't raining every day.

I agree that May has been totally manageable at least for our locale but others have not been as lucky in terms of precip.  I'm not minding the temps at all.  It's been great to get stuff down outdoors and not be sweating.  There's plenty of time for nice warm New England summer days before fall.
