Yeah honestly I haven't seen any event where it was a slam dunk, even some events that look like slam dunks can bust. Iowa is notorious for things that look explosive but end up capped for example. That's the nature of convective forecasting.I agree with that but we all know slam dunk setups as forecasters and this was not one. While the January outbreak didn't become one with widespread strong tornadoes you still saw plenty of tornadic storms across the south with the big notable ones in Albany and Adel. Saying the atmosphere could become unstable again after the rain we had tonight moves out, the storms will be between 2 and 10 a.m., some will be rotating storms and wouldn't be surprised to have tornado warnings. Morning convection that produced more tornadoes than this entire event!!!! Didn't get many under-performers that year. Aug 24 2016 remains my favorite outbreak of the past several years. AKQ is still hyping up tomorrow morning's threat, it went from being an overnight threat to a mid-morning one.
