You're absolutely right. I should have looked closer at that area of low reflectivity and compared it to the "TDS" on CC.

There was a TDS with a strong couplet near Oakdale, NW of that one. Don't know if that's the one he meant.

I'm driving from Joplin to Springfield. Currently in Carthage on I-44. Not even raining here but these posts have me seriously considering turning around and spending the night in Joplin. 

 

You should be fine, there's only a small non severe line in between you and Springfield.
