From reading various regional threads and twitter accounts there seems to be some optimism building for a colder look heading into mid to late Nov and Dec. Getting some decent signals showing up blocking showing up. Would be nice to have some early season cold to go with the holidays for a change, maybe not putting up Christmas lights in shorts lol. We can do well off some N/S clippers that help enhance LES early in the season with the water being so much warmer.

I was thinking of getting the Christmas lights up...at least into the garage for easier staging from the basement this week.  I like to get the stuff outside before Thanksgiving while it's still fairly warm.  I plan to cut grass one more time.

I keep watching the long range GFS runs bring pieces of cold air down.  I know it's really out there but it's showing a nice plunge of very cold air behind an exiting Great Lakes low the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I know we've had these conversations before, but if we're not going to get at least decent snow, the warmer air can hang around as long as it wants as far as I'm concerned. Cold air is just a waste without snow to me. A good snow, not a half inch of LES. A high of 32 tomorrow and nothing to go with it. I'd rather be able to wear shorts. Lol

Yeah, unfortunately, just cold. Big HP (1034 or higher)  going to set up over top of us friday night into saturday morning. Should cut off any LES that started to fall as a result of that cold front tonight. Friday night playoff football is going to be chilly :shiver:

It may be that we've had two bad winters in row, but you always hate to waste such a good airmass.

10 days out on EPS, but a signal for a trough over the region. Pretty good sign for it to be picking up on it this early.  Teleconnection indices are looking good for the period as well. Something to keep an eye on.

Not really into temp records.

But we kinda got screwed out having one of the coldest days this early in the season, with that midnight high of 41.

Could've ended up with a mean of 24F or 25F.

Although we still have a shot at the record low for today which is 20F. ( 22F as of this edit )

Frigid 12F in my backyard this morning.

The Penn State mets on Weather World were talking about a blocking pattern setting up the week of Thanksgiving and the GFS the last couple of runs has been showing a cold shot centered around Thanksgiving day with a precip event.

There was a guy in here that called himself "Stinkbug Specialist". Is that you? I ask because you randomly brought up stinkbugs in a previous post. Anyway, we should probably keep our posts to the new thread now.
