The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  The District of Columbia...
  Southeastern Montgomery County in central Maryland...
  Northern Prince Georges County in central Maryland...
  Southeastern Loudoun County in northern Virginia...
  The City of Fairfax in northern Virginia...
  Arlington County in northern Virginia...
  The City of Falls Church in northern Virginia...
  Fairfax County in northern Virginia...
  The City of Alexandria in northern Virginia...

* Until 400 PM EDT

* At 318 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Fairfax,
  moving northeast at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
           to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
           damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
           downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
           Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include...
  Arlington, Alexandria, Centreville, Rockville, Bethesda, Reston,
  Bowie, Annandale, Olney, Springfield, College Park, Herndon,
  Greenbelt, Fairfax, Langley Park, Beltsville, Vienna, Groveton,
  Forestville and Falls Church.

Very pedestrian storm up my way. No wind to speak of, minimal lightning, and if we were lucky we may have seen an inch of rain. One thing though is we did see a handful of CG strikes close to home which had our dogs jumping. :)

Looks like those to my south are doing much better. Hope you all get a good show.

Not complaining here either. Needed the rain for the garden and the lawn. Sadly this has been the most exciting event I have had since the Feb storm which says a lot about how bad severe has been up my way.

Concur. Some rain, a few rumbles of thunder, but overall, really really meh downtown. Again.
