Yup, I was running along the water right at that time when I heard it too.  Running north along the water was brutal.

Prob a good stiff 25-30mph steady wind right on the water.

This is definitely up there-not quite 1/26/11 heavy, but 2"/hr easy. This reminds me a little of 12/30/00 snow intensity (which I know was only great on the western half of LI).

Yeah, I was walking along the water into the wind and it was almost unpleasant. I still loved it though.

Did you have some sleet at the start too?  No thundersnow here but I saw some on video from Manhattan around 7 AM

My guess is that CPK reports around 10 and the airports around 12. ISP might be 16
