Stream of moisture is out ahead of the trough over the Great Lakes and Canadian Prairies. The upper level low in the northern stream is diving SSEward not SEward. This is significant as it allows the flow ahead of the upper level low and the southern stream disturbance to amplify as it moves more NNE than NE up the East Coast and deepen as divergence aloft increases. Blizzard conditions are very possible for coastal locations, especially Cape and Islands and includes Block Island and Plymouth county. Whiteouts are likely as snow combines with increasing winds out of the north likely gusting between 40-50mph and sustained at 30-40mph. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

USCAPEWEATHERAF Posted January 7, 2017 Share Posted January 7, 2017 I would say looking at the radar and seeing the storm, we got about 18 hours of snow to go through still and I think 18-24" is reasonable for the Cape and Plymouth county. Also temps should stay below freezing. 850mb low stays southeast of us as thermal packing suggests a monster inflow jet into SNE and suggests high moisture content.
