Buffalo Metro is going to get absolutely crushed from between 5- whenever she decides to settle back South.  Plus the added synoptic moisture from the incoming wave which should put down 1-2" area wide.  I will be extremely disappointed if KBUF doesn't get at least a foot or more but I've been disappointed before so it's always, we'll see what happens.  Everything I have looked at including Bufkit has KBUF getting destroyed. Even their latest sounding for this evening shows the omega intersecting the snow growth region, with a pretty much non-existent cap so I say all systems go for a serious commute this evening through I'd say about 11 or so.

Good luck!

I think that band is nearly out of northward steam.  Its looking fairly steady now, maybe its got another mile or two at best, but I think its a heart breaker for the metro.  Also, I don't see more than a coating area wide synoptically, if that.  Sorry to be so pessimistic.

I dont live in KBUF but its great to disagree.  I really have nothing invested in this event as a whole but I still think ur wrong, lol!!

Cautiously optimistic on any more northward jogging. If it repeats earlier today the band kinked and made a fast 5 mile jump north.. Maybe a repeat next hour? NWS has been advertising a 5pm arrival downtown all day so let's see..

Still only light snow here. Guess this is what the 2010 and 2014 storms felt like for those just north of it. Looking further downwind it seems like it has a couple more miles in it, but that's no guarantee.

Congratz on the snow, has anyone reported any thundersnow yet? Maybe not enough instability?

None yet. But I saw 6" in an hour earlier. Crazy stuff!

Latest from KBUF:

.A BAND OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL AFFECT CENTRAL ERIE...SOUTHWESTERN
GENESEE AND NORTHERN WYOMING COUNTIES...

A band of lake effect snow producing snow fall rates of 3 inches per
hour will continue to drift very slowly north toward Buffalo while
continuing to impact the Buffalo Southtowns through the afternoon.
This band of heavy snow is then expected to drift farther north into
the City of Buffalo during the evening commute. The band also
extends eastward into Northern Wyoming County and will edge into
Southwestern Genesee County later this afternoon.

2014 didn't even have -SN just north of the band, just partly cloudy skies. The light snow today goes all the way up at least to the Niagara County line.

I would love to see some snowfall reports near the Woodlawn area. They've under the worst of it all afternoon. It's probably been there 4 hours now right?

Right in the middle of it right now, just pure heavy fluffy snow!!

Looks like a south towns special! Just doesn't look like it wants to budge at all. Riding the edge here still a good 1"/hr. 1.5" so far since 3pm.

Yup, pretty much the same exact here. Looks like it's trying to fatten up a bit, which might push us into the 2-3"/hr stuff. I'm still remaining optimistic!
