You know, when I watch TV and there's a new show on that I watch for a few episodes, and then I decide I don't really like it, I don't keep watching it.

Take pictures of your snow. Congrats ahead of time. Many hours spent tracking this one. You deserve it

I'm really trying not to have a complete meltdown at the moment. Only GSP's forecast for the metro area and points north is keeping me from throwing in the towel. I don't even know why I get emotionally invested at this point. Hoping for winter weather in CLT is like cheering for the Browns. Although, actually, the Browns are showing some promise this year.

Haha, ive lived in the CLT area for 8 years now.  There hasnt been one storm where there wasnt a world of speculation about what was going to happen just hours before it happened.  There have also been more storms that busted than actually produced.  Its just this area...you are always going to be riding the line.  Always

8 years for me as well! Normally, GSP is less bullish than the models, so this is an interesting change of pace. Hopefully they're right!

Normally, perhaps. But I know the ones where they overblown it due to an unforeseen warm nose.  It's why I'll always wait to verify until I see it falling.

Not sure why all the cliff jumping for some in Upstate SC. WYFF still seems highly confident and has even upped the snow totals in some places.

Of course, I'm also sitting good being up in TR too. First winter on the good side of I-85! Glad I made that move lol

I think it's becasue the area that will get it is so small. It used to be in these bigger systems that the lower upstate would get some too; Laurens, even Abbeville and Greenwood. It looks like people in the golden strip and Anderson area could get completely blanked. Plus I think it's harder to be excited about ice for most. While I'll take sleet over nothng, snow is the king. Most of the actual 85 corridor will see very little of that if any (unless there are big surprises). Plus, it's always harder to see someone not that far away get multiple times what you do.

same. moved from rdu to clt and they got 6" last year. even charleston, sc got 5"+.  if i moved to Alaska they would likely go snowless and have sleetstorms.

At least I have family I can visit in Michigan if this completely busts. I definitely feel for anyone entirely born and raised down this way.

In early December. Be thankful for anything you get here this time of year...or any time of year for that matter lol.

Hopefully it's a sign of things to come in what's suppose to be a very active winter.

I am actually pretty confident we'll get some more chances this winter, even in the upstate, and even for other areas of SC. The pattern for Nov and Dec have been very wet and below normal temps. El Nino yes, but this seems like an even better pattern so far. We had 3 rains in the mid 30s in Nov and already a winter threat in early Dec. I think we get several more legitimate shots between now and early March. I really think the 1-20 to I-85 crew will have a good shot this year. Last year it was the crowd below I-20, and it's always the 1-40 crowd, but we haven't gotten a true 20/85 storm with good snowfall in awhile.
