Just woke up to the thunder and lightning.  Crazy.   Heavy freezing rain.  That's a first for me. Sitting at 30 degrees.

Thunder and heavy rain when I was leaving this morning.  So weird.  Roads weren't noticeably icy, but lots of standing water.  The car had a little coating of ice by the time I got to work, though.  

 

Seems like it could get dicey if the temp drops a few degrees.

On paper, it's been a decent winter for the Chicago - Detroit corridor (I think still at/above average to-date).

The problem, aside from the 2 weeks in December, is the lack of snowcover and roller coaster temps. We also haven't seen any *major* snowstorms since then either.
