Seems like decent snow growth here, but I'll take a core at 10am.

We have a monster isothermal layer around -11C to -12C from the sfc up to 600mb. That's not exactly primed in the max zone around -15C (+/- 3C), but it's not crappy either.

We've got massive fluffy dendrites up here but it might also be this 30-35dbz band...flakes were smaller in the lighter stuff.

Pretty cool. Looks like the Arctic out there. Light, dusty snow. Temp 12 F and wind is out of the NW.

I know many of us like to correlate surface temps with an air-masses "staying power" --better stated as inertia--but more often than not that's a poor generalization. Last night, when I arrived home from the movies and saw a temperature of 2F at 10:45 PM, with winds still light and alto stratus already rolling in, I really started to appreciate just how COLD this airmass was. By this observation alone, it's no surprise that these feeble waves will be hitting a brick wall in New England.
