Light snow in Haywood County Franklin. Anyone else seeing snow?

Wow! You're right!! I just went to the window and see some light but noticeable flakes coming down here in East Asheville! Hoping this starts early and overperforms for everyone. The radar is looking pretty juicy already out to the West!

For wave #2, watch the strength of the CAD.  Recall last year, in a very similar setup, the models trended colder with each run as the wedge dynamics came into focus.  I wouldn't be shocked at all to see that same thing happen here.  Northeast states are cold, dry, and snow covered.  So...watch that wedge strength and depth next day or so.

Good call. The 12Z NAM just did exactly that. Bad ice for the favored CAD areas

Quick look at the webcams shows the first batch snow but looks like it is simply melting when it hits the warm ground.  Accumulating snow appears to be above 5000 feet at the moment.

Eyeballing the radar, a heavier batch of precip now over Western TN should move through the Balsams and to the South after dark with maybe a quick couple of inches with the cooler temperatures and departure of the March sun that lowers the snow level.  HRRR shows this enhanced precip area nicely at 0Z over the NC SW mountains.

http://brpwebcams.org/cam/5/1  With the heavier snow rates there appears to be a little on the grass at Balsam Gap.

Purchase Knob at 5000 feet shows a little as well: https://www.nature.nps.gov/air/webcams/parks/grsmpkcam/grsmpklargerimage.cfm

Not much at Mt. Pisgah: http://brpwebcams.org/cam/10/1

Snow appears to have mostly ended as of 1:45 PM with no more than a dusting falling below 5000 feet.

At least we won't have any issues with temps when the main show comes in. There won't be any starting as rain.

Yep. We just launched a balloon from UNCA and it's below freezing the whole column after few thousand feet. Once surface temps drop as the atmosphere start becoming saturated, we should be good right when heavier stuff get here.
