Side note, all my family live is Monroe and Indian Trail. They went from having 8-10 inches possible this morning to a couple of inches and a lot of rain. I drove to highlands that day with the kids and they had over a foot with freezing drizzle and we broke out the sleds. I think Jan 2011 was the last time we hit 12. Yeah different setup too. We don't do as well with the cad and counting on cold air to filter in from the NE, too many high mtns to my east. Met1985 Posted January 6, 2017 Share Posted January 6, 2017 I just got a chance to look at the GFS run and wow it would not surprise me if someone in our area had the highest total in the state. From Haywood, to Jackson, to Transylvania, to Macon looks great. 8 to 12+ with that GFS run. Really from Haywood county south looks great. Buncombe gets downsloped major by the SW mountains but still has some nice totals. Also I'm waiting on that trend back south most where talking about lol! Exactly. Even last year we where borderline 30, 31 during the event until like Saturday night. No temp problems this go round. Temp is sitting at 23, 24 degrees. Helps them with cold air. They still get snowholed even during CAD storms that come from the South and they're too far east for northwest flow events.
