This is CAE's departure from monthly normals so far in 2016:

January: -1F

February: 0F

March: +6F

April: +3

May: +1

June: +4

July: +5

August: +3

September: +5

October (so far): +6

Winter weather shouldn't be anywhere near anybody's reality anymore.  If it happens, great; but our weather reality is completely different now.  Some of those predictions in the snowfall thread are just comical.  Its over, done.

Our first volunteer to jump off the cliff.  Is there anyone else behind you we should know about?

all kidding aside 2016 has been a torch fest.  Let's hope the rubber band snaps back soon. Even in a warmer world we are still going to have long periods of below normal cold. Just gotta get them when it counts in winter.

That is kinda silly and has no bearing on the actual weather this winter.

60 degrees F under gorgeous skies at the Statesville Balloon Festival.
Last METAR here had NW winds at 10, gusting to 17.
Like McDowell_Weather, I hope the wind dies down in time for the Night Glow this evening.
