Hi friends by proxy! It's Stacey, Will's wifey.

We just took a drive from our spanking-new residence in Calumet MI to the Gay area, about 12 miles away. It was an adorable little townlet and looked quite like Allagash back in Maine.

Here are some of the pictures that Will took, mostly from the window of our car in order to nicely contrast the green of the trees and the blue of the sky with the yellow of the hood. B)

Wait.

Just...wait for a bit.

In this fast-paced culture of rape and mac donald's, that's a tall order, but you have a long track record of saying things, some of which mean something, so I'm willing to, as you say, wait, and I look forward to any further contribution you may bring to the table!

The Keweenaw does not look like Wisconsin.  Yes, some of the interior and southern parts of the UP resemble N Wisconsin, but the Keweenaw and the Huron's are different.  A very rugged, wild, and coastal feel.
I have ambushed this sub-forum with pics of the area for 2 years, Wilma.  Not one of them were able to capture the true spirit and beauty of this amazing place.  It has to be experienced to be appreciated, and not everyone will "get" it.  The climate, however, fascinates me more than anything.. you'll find through living here that it's a pretty harsh place a lot of the time.

We usually have a Lake Effect thread in Winter for the snow belt crowd, why don't you keep a single thread for your experiences and pictures, and Winter reports living in the Keweenaw... you'll find a lot of interest I think.  Just you guys try not to be too weird, mmmk...?!
