July 2016 Obs/Disc

pretty disgusting outside this morning. haven't hit 90 all week. 7/6 has been the only 90+ reading so far this month. I imagine I will get there today.

Super muggy out there this am! Have hit 90 (and exactly 90.0) one time this year back on 6/17, but the lack of 'stupidly high heat' has been more than made up with the high humidity/mugginess.

"Through the first part of next week, enough rain could fall in some locations to ease abnormally dry conditions in some areas and perhaps stop the pattern of building drought in others.

Even so, a few locations may escape with little or no rainfall, which is the nature of even the wettest of summertime thunderstorm regimes."

Gee, I wonder where those locations might be?

Forecast said heat index as high as 101.

Martin State just hit 106

KMTN along with KDMW and KFDK are off sometimes to me, however it is still hot either way, heat index of 101-102 at DCA. Slightly lower temperature than HRRR/RAP but higher dew points.

KDMW just hit 117 for heat index , lol.

KDOV is the same at KTMN.

The convective temp on the 12z IAD RAOB was 92 degrees and we are beginning to see that realized in the cu field starting to develop.  that should cap the afternoon highs at 90-93 degrees region wide, and keep HX value around 100 degrees.  The wind shift to the WSW within the last hour doesn't hurt either, as it will help mix the dew point temps out by a few degrees.

Spiked to 99 about 30 minutes ago. So close!

It happened with a nice downslope gust.  Love the 5 min readings.

95.8 so far for the high at home.

Officially 98 for a high at DCA.  We will have to be careful with the 5-min obs just like Wunderground.  Looks like they are taking the rounded C reading and converting it back to F.

I'm thinking 95 at home and 97 at DCA today.  Skeptical of the big-ticket numbers.

95.5 at home, 98 at DCA.  Call it a push.  98 qualifies as big time in my book.

This was definitely a big heat day around here--at least in my time in DC. HRRR did pretty decent with temps.

We went 98+ at DCA 10 times in July 2012.  That was awful, though fun to track.

Daily max of 96.6 on the PWS.  Currently 94.7 / 73.  HI all afternoon >= 105* as PWS has been flashing warning, although I don't believe there was ever an official advisory for Loudoun.

JYO is at 105 HI, 95/73 basically the same as me.  And quite the southwesterly breeze, but no sign of any convective relief.  Definitely the max for the year IIRC.
