Tonight's GFS shows quite a cold pattern in the long range and even a snow threat. After all this incredibly warm weather, is winter really going to come back around the time that spring officially hits?

Im not seeing this AT ALL, unless by "long range" you are talking about December 2016

The GFS has been showing that from day 10 on forever-it never moves up in time.   It will certainly cool down after this torch, but I would be wary of any return to anything winter like

Yeah, we had this GFS classic from the 5th predicting snow for this week.

The operational GFS was a huge outlier again, even among its own ensembles, as is normal for that putrid model. There will be a brief cool down after March 21st, not impressive, then we go right back to above normal warmth again

Even the week 2 EPS back in late February missed the record warmth and ridging in the East this week.

It doesn't really pay to look much past the day 6-10 EPS for average temperatures.

Huh?

Huh what? Look at the GFS. It has been consistent in showing a trough in the east. I guess everyone  is off the cold and snow train and thinks it can't snow since we are in March.

Personally, this warm weather is sickening for this time of the year. It's only early March, not April.

Again, the operational GFS is an outlier. It's consistent alright, consistently horrible. It was showing this week being cold and snowy in the long range and we're 80 degrees. The GEFS doesn't even agree with it. Why are you hyping a brief meh cool down at the end of March that goes right back to warm?

No one is hyping anything. It seems like everyone is only talking about the warmth on here. Yes it might be an outlier and never happen but it's worth talking about, We have seen snow in March and April so it's not uncommon.
