With what's looking like a big rainer on the way, why not have some fun tracking snow showers today and tomorrow. Most guidance is on board for a round of snow showers associated with the front. Then, we could get lucky and catch a long streamer off the lakes tomorrow.

Any particular area where these showers will hit? Is it going to be area-wide or more concentrated in a certain location? I haven't seen as much discussion on tonight's snow bands since we've all be watching Mon/Tues.  Thx.

short range models (like the HRRR i posted above) show it as a line of snow showers moving across the state (similar to a line of storms associated with a front in the summer). Most everyone should see something, but some places may see better batches of precip than others.

If you're heading west to Canaan/Deep Creek/Snowshoe/7 Springs it should be a good weekend. They'll likely pick up another 3-6" this weekend from upslope. Canaan already received 20" this week and has made a decent recover from what was an awful Nov/Dec. 50" in January and 21" so far this month.

They are about halfway to climo average lol.

AAA is probably drooling right now.  Cold weather? Plus snow? =stalled cars, bashed cars needing tows, etc.

And NOT having to deal with new plowbergs enroute.  (there are still a few, mainly in big box parking lots and a few corners).

At least I saw evidence of pre-brining on the main roads ((The Hill of Doom here in Arlington only rated salt)).

It seems absurd but there is plenty of evidence about what happens around here when we get a squall or heavy snow burst and the roads are cold and it's rush hour. People are taken by surprise, visibility drops, roads quickly freeze up and it's a disaster. It seems embarrassing but it's just the nature of too many people who don't know how to drive in general and are even worse in the snow and being in a big city. It's not different in any other big city in the northeast.
