I had 3.5 inches last night, and apparently it all fell at once. I have a huge mess to clean up in my basement. Lots of water. Many road closures this morning as well. Quincy Posted February 3, 2016 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Here is some of my footage from the Memphis, AL area of the tornado that tracked from MS into AL. The chase started near Scooba, MS where I had a partially obscured view of what was probably a tornado. i went north and east to Memphis for an intercept and had a few glimpses of the tornado. AL-17 was close to an ideal orientation (SSW to NNE) to follow the storm, but more than two thirds of the chase was blocked by trees. Chinook Posted February 5, 2016 Share Posted February 5, 2016 Jackson Mississippi NWS 5 confirmed tornadoes 2 tornadoes rated EF-2, both of the tracks were partly in Kemper County, Mississippi Birmingham NWS 4 confirmed tornadoes McMullen/Carrollton rated EF-2 some info from McMullen/Carrollton "As the tornado crossed Huff-Barnett Road, it mowed down a wide swath of trees, with a distinct classic convergence pattern of tree fall just east of Beaver Creek. The tornado continued northeastward across Al Hwy 14 causing damage to the federal prison, and then moved on to the Martin Luther King Road/Sapp community northwest of Aliceville. Here, the tornado reached its highest rated strength (EF-2) damage. Many of the homes in this portion of the Sapp community received some extent of damage, and several were destroyed.
