We should be entering the period where nearly stationary or slow moving bands oriented ne-sw and then n-s. Later everything will start pull east.

I want to really get my total "amped" up before it shuts off. Sitting at 19" now I figure if the bands are slow moving enough and drop heavy snow I can probably get close to 25" - let me know how they are!

Need more here :P

Wind seems to be picking up here.

Beautiful scene--everything has fallen with temps below 30

 A plow didn't do this...

First round of shoveling done while we probably have 15 or 16 inches, its so drifted that most ares have over 2 feet at least in my driveway. Pretty tough going. still coming down and a decent clip, half inch an hour or so and looking heavier now

got 15 too ,good

I went out at 10 AM and traveled around the neighborhood to try and find the most reliable spot for measuring.  Very tough because the snow looks like a frozen snapshot of the sea surface in a storm.  I measured many times and got a range of 16 - 18 inches.  Snow was really ripping while I was out.  Just came in and measured 18 - 20.  So that was 2" in just under an hour.

I see a report on NBC4 of 30" in Winchester.  That seems dubious.

Weren't people saying an hour ago DCA was at 18"?

Someone said Seidel on TWC said 16 at DCA couple hours ago.

While we are at 18 in N Arlington, DCA is still several miles away.

TWC anchors said that DCA was at 16 an hour ago. Guess not?

Official ob from OKV according to Doug Kamerer. 30 inches. That is 9 inches in the last 3 hours. PD2 is finally going down. I might get 40 inches. Just insanity.

You've got a real shot to beat your record out there!

I was a bit surprised to hear that Dulles was already at about 2 feet. Impressive!

I am usually sort of in the middle of the accumulation reports in FDK, but I must be in a good bubble.  I can't find anywhere with less than 25" with most being a little higher.  Highly unofficial, but I have a few areas of undisturbed pavement/concrete.

I think they're reporting lower than that. In February 2010 the NWS briefly posted 30 inches for DCA on the daily climate report. It was later reduced to the 17 inch total.

You can see some returns forming from the northern Beltway to BWI. I'd expect that to continue and fill in the space with the band to the south.

Grainy snow was falling while I was out shovelling but it's picked back up and much bigger flakes are falling again.  close to an inch on areas I had cleared

Took my measurement early because I was out there.

13" since 6am. And I feel that was low as it was the lowest of 3, but I don't want any exaggeration.

Total is 30" and pouring. Good grief.

I love this part of a storm like this. Highest ratios should be imminent. Snow globes in the bands. Bring it!

You're good mattie. It's going to drop down on you within 30 mins

I was at 13.5" at 5am and then got dry slotted. I woke up from a nap and measured again and it was no different. I'm guessing I've gotten another inch or 2 when the flakes started flying again. Once again I'm in a dryslot but off to the east we have precip moving in off the ocean.
