Thanks for sharing the video stormsfurry. Praying for all the people affected by these floods. This will be the biggest financial disaster in SC history behind Hugo I'd imagine. You can repair blown off shingles, windows. But flood damage is a beast.

Yeah, this disaster will far surpass Hugo damage wise and the flooding is magnitudes above Hugo both in wind and rain/flood damage.

Police were going door to door to warn people and get them out. very worrisome.

Also spoke with my parents who live on forest lake and their dam did not fail as it was concert. Arcadia above them did which is why the water is so high in their house. If Forrest lake or lake Katherine dams fail, things will get very ugly in a hurry. Of course is Murray fails it is over for the midlands down.

I am down stream 2-3miles from all of that so I pray they hold.  I thought Gill's would flood and maybe make it to my steps, but having it rise 11 + feet on me in a little over 3 hours during the predawn hours this morning was just insane.

The second flood gate? wow.....that is simply crazy   :(

Source on this info? If things are this bad then they must be concerned with the dams structural integrity.

I really hope the people of Williamsburg County are getting the help they need. They have been hit so badly today and not much is being said. It is already a very economically depressed area that is not going to attract much attention because it is lightly populated.

The county seat Kingstree has received 14.5 inches today alone! The city is under a mandatory evacuation order for fear of the Black River cresting. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Rain total at noon today for just today.

They must be really worried about the complete collapse of the dam.  I would imagine the water kept rising behind it even with the first flood gate open.

Not good   :(

Brad P just retweeted this:

"Historic opening of the 3rd spillway at the Lake Murray dam."

Holy crapballz batman   :flood:    I was just going to post that I didn't think the flood gates have ever(except for testing) been open to release water like that. Wow.....Just wow   :(

Oh....btw.....if you happen to see the video of a guy rescuing someone in a white truck on the weather channel.....that would be a friend of ours.

He never even thought twice about rescuing the elderly gentleman, who didn't turn around and could have drowned ;)

My husbands grandmother lives in Hemingway. She has been away on a trip and suppose to come in tonight. Not sure if she'll make it to her house or not. We have no clue if she has any flooding issues at her house. You're right about it being economically depressed and smaller in population so, their isn't much media attention on them.

The lake is still rising just over an inch an hr with 3 floodgates open. It was almost full before this system started. I heard they are seriously thinking about opening the 4th gate. There's only 6 of them  :(

Check out this dramatic video from periscope. Truck swept away by water.

  That's the truck! The guy that rescued him before the boat got there was a friend...and no....he didn't ask the elderly gentleman wth he was thinking  :P

Jesus another round coming in.

Indeed  :(
