LOT update....

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO/ROMEOVILLE IL
433 PM CDT MON JUL 13 2015

.MESOSCALE DISCUSSION...
433 PM CDT

CONVECTIVE INITIATION IS UNDERWAY FROM SOUTHWEST IF JOT WNW TO
SOUTHWEST OF DBQ. STOUT CAPPING INVERSION NOTED ON THE 18Z DVN
SOUNDING ALSO EVIDENT ON ACARS SOUNDINGS OUT OF ORD. PROGRESSION
OF SOUNDINGS BETWEEN 1808Z THROUGH 2014Z HAS SHOWN NEARLY 1.5C
COOLING AT 850MB WITH WEAKENING OF THE INVERSION. CONTINUING LOW
LEVEL WARM AIR ADVECTION AND SURFACE HEATING SHOULD ALLOW FOR
CONTINUED EROSION OF THE CAP THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS.

EXTREMELY FAVORABLE DEEP LAYER SHEAR JUXTAPOSED OVER EXTREME
INSTABILITY WILL ALLOW DEVELOPING CONVECTION TO QUICKLY TRANSITION
TO HP SUPERCELLS. IMPRESSIVE VEERING/INCREASING WITH HEIGHT WIND
PROFILE ON KLOT WSR-88D WOULD CERTAINLY SUPPORT TORNADO
THREAT...THOUGH LIGHTER WINDS IN THE LOWEST LEVELS MAY TEND LEAD
TOWARD A BIT MORE OUTFLOW DOMINANCE OF SUPERCELLS.
HOWEVER...STORMS ARE DEVELOPING NEAR REMNANT OUTFLOW BOUNDARY FROM
THIS MORNING WOULD POSE A GREATER TORNADO RISK.

I'm probably the only one in here NOT rooting for their BY to get hit by any of these storms.

Anyways, cell that entered Kankakee County has weakened. Getting the old spits of rain with the sun shining kind of deal right now. Looking upstream though, our luck will probably run out later this evening/tonight.

I am managing EMA communications for the county fair tonight.  You can add me to the list rooting against any severe tonight.

All of the 170-190° wind obs in the eastern half of IL are pretty distressing. Didn't fully expect that, and if that Grundy/Will cell takes off, it's going to be really bad.

That cell is Ottawa is trying and may eventually take advantage of that environment.
