Wow, is that another snow farm where they dump it?

That pile looks like it's going to survive well into August.

According to this tweet, it's behind the Rte 128 Auto Parts:

Here it is on satellite for those interested in making a pilgrimage:

Buffalo pile still going strong, grass growing in it, dirt but no garbage

It would be awesome if the annual challenge mentioned in this article happened:

I'm sure weenies all over would be building massive piles of snow to see whose can last the longest.  I know I used to do that when I was younger and even had a pile make it to the end of May with a little help....lol.

I still think the snow farm in Quebec City is the best with snow lasting all year in some years.

Public works had excavators out at Central Terminal tearing into the Buffalo pile and spreading it around on Thursday, so I think it'll be totally gone in a week or so.

Yes  it  is. Last   year it  lasted till Sept and that   was with them  digging into it  with the  excavator

I know this is my inner weenie talking but if the pile isn't doing anything, why bother?  It's gonna melt any way and you're taking guys away from real tasks that need to be done, not to mention the cost of diesel fuel to run the equipment.  It's such a shame.  They should make a fund raiser contest out of guessing when it will melt rather than spending time and money to tear it down.

lol.  I agree.  Regardless of how nasty it may look. Although maybe they think it will last into the winter, and keep growing from year to year.  That would be pretty awesome to see.

My  buddy in Waltham MA  still has Boston snow. This  was taken today

Does anyone know if this pile survived August?  That would be a feat in any season, especially this season with the warmth but my inner weenie wanted to check on it....lol.

I went over there one Sunday about 3 weeks ago but the huge junkyard was closed. I was unable to get a vantage point where I could see this claimed surviving pile. I am assuming it was in the junkyard itself because I went around the outside of it and saw nothing.

The pile he is talking about was in Waltham, different one than the seaport pile.

Yeah - someone had posted a picture supposedly taken on 7/29 and the pile looked fairly substantial:

It matches up with the photo in this tweet so it is possible.

We need intel from the guy that posted those pictures.

I posted the picture  and that's my  buddy  that  took that  on the  29th.  Last  years  pile lasted  till  Sept  and that  was  with  them turning it. I  asked him  about this year's pile  the other week  and he  said  he's not   working for that  company but  was  going to try  and  get  in there to  see if  anything  was left. I'll  ask  him if he  knows  if there is  anything left  this  morning and  get  back to you and  yes  it is in the  junk  yard.
