Tonight should be the night you lose to your neighbors anyway. We hit 27 on the hill tonight, we'll probably be 27 again tonight while chez Ekster bottoms out around 20 in his little bowl of a neighborhood a couple miles away.

The warmth from him torching cars after the Mets win, should keep it warm.

Event totals: 0.8” Snow/0.12” L.E.

We woke up to white here at the house this morning, with temperatures in the 20s F and some very fluffy snow accumulations comprised of some nice flakes.  It was still snowing when I made my observations, and we subsequently got some graupel, which wound up sitting on top of the other snow and compressing it.  I’ll put that additional accumulation into the next update.

Details from the 8:00 A.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 0.6 inches

New Liquid: 0.02 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 30.0

Snow Density: 3.3% H2O

Temperature: 28.1 F

Sky: Light Snow (5-15 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 0.5 inches

Event totals: 1.1” Snow/0.13” L.E.

We’ve had some on and off flurries today, but there's been no additional accumulation since what we picked up in the morning subsequent to my 8:00 A.M. observations.  That second round of morning accumulation was heavy in graupel as I noted before, but still came in at fairly low density based on the water I could pull out of it.

My data from the past 10 years indicates that this location averages somewhere in the 0.5” to 1.0” range of snowfall each October, so with over an inch of accumulation thus far, this October is currently running in the upper half of the data set.

Details from the 4:00 P.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 0.3 inches

New Liquid: 0.01 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 30.0

Snow Density: 3.3% H2O

Temperature: 37.8 F

Sky: Partly Cloudy

Snow at the stake: Trace
