Thunder usually doesn't travel too far before it get absorbed/refracted. Are you getting lightning inside the anvil, going many miles out towards Fort Worth?

 

 very well could.. we had some crazy maamatus clouds about an hour ago and could hear thunder then, and again just a few minutes ago...

Also just had a loud thunder crash here in Lewisville. Nothing on radar.

yep. and all the way to the 3.5 scan, which is 19+kft agl

 

ps: NWS-DFW needs to locally extend the tornado watch to Bosque, Summervell, and Hood Counties ASAP ahead of this storm.

 

Not sure if SPC issued a new one or FWD locally extended the watch, but watch out until 11 for dfw South and west down to Waco

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A  
 
* TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF   
  CENTRAL AND NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS  
 
* EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 455 PM UNTIL  
  1100 PM CDT.  
 
* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...  
  A FEW TORNADOES LIKELY WITH A COUPLE INTENSE TORNADOES POSSIBLE  
  SCATTERED LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 4  
    INCHES IN DIAMETER LIKELY  
  SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE  
 
SUMMARY...SCATTERED SUPERCELLS WILL PERSIST THROUGH LATE  
EVENING...WITH A CONTINUED RISK FOR TORNADOES...VERY LARGE  
HAIL...AND DAMAGING GUSTS.  A STRONG TORNADO WILL BE POSSIBLE LATER  
THIS EVENING AS LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE AND SHEAR INCREASE.
