Jeff, snow growth has deteriorated greatly, but we remain immersed in this fine, dense sand that is still accumulating efficiently.

I'm going to remember this season for its departing bands that want no part of vacating ne MA.

Unbelievable.

There is no denying this epic stretch we are in Ray, The snow depth's around the region are just unreal

12.0 final, ccb burst at the end was briefly reminiscent of feb 13.....avg 18 depth. sounds like there was more compacting than i thought out to the east but sounds like everyone got it all back today and added a few to several to boot. depths here are nowhere near jan 11.....long way to go to catch that badboy

I think the HRRR hinted at it last night.

Yes, last night in the NYC forum someone posted on that, re: HRRR, and I thought, "How ridiculous!"  Came to fruition.  7" here from the initial, .5 sleet, then a nice 4 incher in the back end.  (Geez.  Sometimes describing the weather sounds porny.)

I can't get out in my backyard due to the sheer amount of snow.. but my Jan/Feb 2011 depths were measured by how much of my neighbor's 5 foot fence got covered...it is at that level plus some (within a foot on the corner of the property, a little lower further back. Holly bushes have grown but are now buried, etc., etc. All said and done we are over the level we had four years ago, but the blizzard, even with serious compaction set the stage for this. If the next couple of storms bear out, we'll be passing historic depths for the area.

mind boggling the difference in density between the snow at the end vs most of the day....are waa snows always tiny needle like flakes, baking powder stuff?? seems to me i can remembet better snow growth in a few swfe events....also it seems like snow growth was better from the beginning north of here

What is your depth?

You must be around 3'?

Yeah, This one will put us in that range, Will have to check the stake in the am, Closing in on 10" here and these are the heaviest rates of the day with this band, And warmest as well, We are finally above zero for the first time today, 2.3°F

This was an impressively cold storm. Up at the office like the first 3" fell at -8F. That seems to be pushing it for a temp that allows steady precip.
