1/26/15. 3 inches from a Hail Mary; those bands delivered

2/21/15 11 inches WTF Storm

2/26. 1.75. Fringed, but not quite.

Winter 2014-2015 Totals

 

11/13/14: Trace (Sleet, mostly rain)

11/26/14: 0.10 (Snow began to stick on grass/other surfaces but the lighter rates caused it to change back to rain)

12/4/14: 0.10 (Sleet)

12/12/14: 0.25 (Snowed for 3 hours. Moderate at times.)

1/6/15: 3 Inches (Cold Snow. At the end the snow was big fluffy flakes)

1/21/15: 3 Inches (Heavy wet snow. Covered everything).

1/23/15: 0.10 (Mixture of Sleet, Freezing Rain, & Snow)

1/26-27/15:  1.55 inches (About 1 inch in the morning and the rest in the evening/overnight. Some sleet/freezing rain).

2/1/15: 0.50 (A half of inch of snow washed away)

2/10/15: 0.10 (At least 0.10 of ice. Schools Closed).

2/12/15: Trace (Large Flakes that came down for 15-20 minutes but temps was 40 degrees)

2/14/15: 3 Inches (3 inches of snow in a quick squall) (A trace in the morning also.)

2/16-17/15: 4 Inches (Horrible rates & flake size)

2/18/15: 0.50 inch

2/21-22/15: 5.25 (5 inches of all snow, 0.25 of sleet/snow/freezing rain)

2/26/15: 2.5 Inches (Early morning snowfall, Schools Closed)

3/1/15: 0.75 Inches (0.50 in Snow & 0.25 in Ice)

3/3/15: 0.10 (All surfaces covered in a sheet of ice)

3/5/15: 7 Inches

 

November: 0.10

December: 0.35

January: 7.65

February: 15.85

March: 7.85

That's a lot of "events" for that little return.  :lol:

 

I measure in .25" increments and round up or down as necessary.  I'm not into parsing even smaller amounts, so oftentimes the Traces could have been .25" by those standards, but sometimes those are just brief sleet or flurry action.

 

February 18: T

11-26-14:      3.75"  (heavy wet snow, temps above freezing, 7AM - 3 PM)

1-6-15:          3.5"   (early AM clipper powder, temps in low 20s)

1-21-15:          .5"   (absolute clipper failure.  one of the worst events of my lifetime.  ground completely bare by late afternoon.)

1-24-15:          T     (WSW for 4-7".  Lots of rain.  JOKE)

1-26/27-15:    2.0"  (33F slop, grass only.  WSW for 6-8".  Miller B JOKE.  Surprise evening/night light snows saved event.)

2-14-15:         .2"    (5 minute squall from arctic front)

2-16-15:       3.0"    (light snow, low teens, WSW for 6-10")

2-18-15          T      (Predictable FROPA fail)

2-21-15         9.0"   (Great event, from a cutter no less.  At one point I measured .75" in a 10-minute period, 2.5" in 1-hour)

2-26-15         1.5"   (Early AM event from southern coastal.  Nice snow-on-snow event, nice 10-day stretch of snow cover and cold)

3-5-15           7.0"   (rain to snow at dawn.  falling temps into low 20s, snow to 4 PM.  great cold, great storm).

 

Total:            30.5"    (beat climo and exceeded 30" for third straight year.  Mid Feb - 1st wk of Mar has been awesome  Nearly 3 weeks of snowcover)

2014-2015 Snow Totals

 

Nov 13 - T (Little bit of mix at end of rain)

Nov 26 - .6" (Rain turned into fairly heavy snow for a little, snow tried to cover roads, .2 fell later in the afternoon) 

January 6 - 3.7" (Overperforming clipper. Hail king NAM.)

January 21 - .7" (More snowed then stuck, pretty nice clipper)

January 26/27- 2.2" (Official spotter report, all looked aligned. Backend of miller-b failure for NYC)

January 29 - .1" of sleet.

February 14 - .4" (Squall line)

February 16/17 - 4" (Bit of a bust, forecasts were generally 4-8, but beggars can't be chosers)

February 21 - 4.7" (Biggest snow of the year, generally decent sometimes heavy rates) 

February 26 - 2.2" (Willed a storm north)

March 1 - .1" snow (Based off spotter reports. Barely anything but want to make a run for 20". Icy afterwards)

March 1 - .25" ice

March 5 - 6.1" (Think this was called an anafront, all I know is it brought me cold, March snow.)

 

Total Snow - 24.7"

LOL. At least you're probably closer to Falls Church than in a typical winter.... 

 

perhaps. My new climo is 17".  I think Falls Church is 21"?  So they "should" be around 24-25" and they are only around 23" so I guess I'm closer.  We need more posters from the far south and east burbs ;)
