Typhoon Tip Posted August 31, 2014 Share Posted August 31, 2014 Leaves coming off trees in droves around here. Lots of color change too from stress due to lack of rain. Yea what we're noticing out this way along Rt 2 in N. Mass is that there are some colors showing on typically sick maples (year to year) but overall, species are just sort of dying. Greens fading to brown doesn't really constitute a "color change" in the spirit of autumn foliage, but more a reflection of a troubled ecology for whatever reason. A fellow Met and I were discussing the possibility of solar dimming due to many days of elevated smoke plaguing mid summer, happening in coincidence with episodic cool spells ... but that's all very speculative.
