Spring/ Summer 2014 Convection Discussion

LOL, doubtful but would be funny.

Yeah it's crawling

2-3 yrs ago a tiny cell almost coincided with the fireworks... They were literally telling people to crowd under the Storrow drive overpasses before realizing the worst would pass north into the harbor, it was a mess.

holy lightning! Almost continues/constant

From you on SW are where the nasty ones are. These high dewpoints are just CAPE boosters. You can overcome 6C/KM rates with dews in the low to mid 70s. Also helps with lightning too.

Continuous strobe lightning here, with many close CG strikes.  Heavy heavy rain, although not very much in the way of wind. Saw a nice roll cloud with the gust front blowing through, and maybe had a gust to 30 mph, but so far this is meh in the wind department.

At least you have a good storm. Nothing here this season.

No, but last season was pretty good to you...the winter one, that is.

Yep, but like last summer...kind of annoying to waste 75 dews. If I'm gonna be uncomfortable...I'll take a few storms.

Almost 2 hours of rolling thunder.  Light show has been great the past hour.  Best stuff looks like it's passing SE of Greenfield.

Here's a shot from old Deerfield village from around 5pm.

It's mostly from warmer mid level temps here for the most part. Stalled troughs to the west will do that.

Had some dime size hail come through. Lots of lightning and some heavy rain rates. Not much for wind, but still a good storm.

WOW  just   got off the river in time. We  got  to  691  and  84 in  Southington and the  sky  opened   up. We  had  small hail  , rain  was blowing  sideways  and the  top of the trees  where bending over  fairly  good. I  got  7 min of  video  as we  where  driving into it. I just  need to  figure out  how to  upload it

Just introduced my kids to watching a storm roll in from poets seat. ...a few close cg, but the tower didn't get hit. Just fringed the northern part of the core as it was bowing out. very little wind, no hail. Good video. ..
