Those cells east of Greensboro need to be watched they are the first ones of the day that have "the look" so far.....especially the one right on I40 just east of Greensboro

Edit to add that is a big damn tornado watch area wise for around here....

effect until 9 PM EDT this evening for the following areas

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

CENTRAL AND EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA

SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST VIRGINIA

COASTAL WATERS

* EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 120 PM UNTIL

900 PM EDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...

A FEW TORNADOES LIKELY WITH A COUPLE INTENSE TORNADOES POSSIBLE

SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE

ISOLATED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 120 STATUTE

MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES NORTHEAST OF SOUTH

HILL VIRGINIA TO 10 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF FAYETTEVILLE NORTH

FAVOR SUPERCELLS WITH A RISK FOR TORNADOES GIVEN THE INCREASE IN

INSTABILITY AND VERTICAL WIND SHEAR THIS AFTERNOON...AND AN ISOLATED

STRONG TORNADO OR TWO WILL BE POSSIBLE. OTHERWISE...DAMAGING WINDS

AND HAIL CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE STRONGER STORMS THROUGH THIS

EVENING.

That aint no joke. They're getting organized quickly and moving NE towards my area. Hard to say but the converging bands may come right over top of here or slightly east.

Not really seeing much there, if there is anything, it's very broad.

 

Yeah it tried to get tighter for a scan or two but its not so much to see now......a lot of close storms there could make it tough for one to get going there....

 

Might need to watch the ones SW of the triangle they are more discrete and might have a better shot and unfortunately they are headed for Raleigh metro so would have a bigger impact if they can get spun up.
