Warm season 2014 thunderstorm thread

Can't tell what my gauge picked up until I get back from vacation. Radar estimates for both days suggest between 3 and 5 inches.

In the entire sequence, from Sunday evening through Wednesday morning, my rain gauge totaled 5.29 inches.  More than 3.11" in the great downpour on Monday evening.

Yesterday in north Princeton there was a sunset second to none, with the cirrus and clear air.  Sorry I did not bring a camera along.

0.50 in the last 15 minutes here.

nastiest t-storm of the season.   some wind (not severe) , vivid lightning / thunderous booms.  torrential rain.

Something like that just passed through here in W Windsor.  Won't measure rain till later.  A brief 10-15 minute volley of close CG bolts.

More coming, I'm sure.

UPDATE as of midnight, .48" for the storm.  Looks as though that is it for this round.

Am I the only one who was legitimately scared by that lightning behind the squall line? I've been close to lots of lightning strikes during storms and the sound is a crash followed by a low rumble. These were crashes followed by a series of crashes almost like the ones I experienced when I was filming lightning behind those storms around sunset earlier in the month.

Didn't have a chance to be scared.  The lightning was mostly IC by the time it reached me.

This is the only shot of lightning I got tonight.  The massive shelf was impressive, though.
