6 out of the last 15 winters we had above 70" Amazing stretch....

1998/99   71.1" in Oakland TWP

2004/05   86.0" in Lake Orion

2007/08   99.8" in Lake Orion

2008/09   87.1" in Lake Orion

Looks like a general 2-5" throughout metro-Detroit. I picked up 3.0" of snow (0.41" liquid in gauge, includes some rain at onset). This brings my season total to 96.1". At DTW....3.1" fell, which brings the record-breaking seasonal total to 94.8"!!! Flint broke their record as well, sitting at 83.9" on the season. Not sure what Toledo got, but they probably are at 88-89" on the season (they broke their record in late Feb).

The snow this morning was one of the most picturesque of the season, in terms of the trees. So of course I stopped to the park for some pics :)

Last burst of lake effect put the total at 3.1". With that, have exceeded 3x the normal snowfall for a season. Incredible.

Surely you average more than 26" in a year, right?  One of our professors he estimates we average around 45", and he believes that might even be a bit low based on a lot of the Valpo CoOp totals being really low on non-LES (mostly Clipper) days.

Great pictures michsnowfreak! Glad you guys were able to pull of the record. Did anyone tailgate outside of DTW to watch them try to break the record?

It's actually snowing decently Athens, visibility under a mile, although the flake size isn't the best and it's not sticking yet. This storm, even if amounts weren't too impressive, has at least dusted the entire sub-forum I think. Not too bad for mid-April.

Woke up a nice surprise this morning, measured 1.0" here...which puts me over 75" for the season. Another local observer on the south side had 1.2".

A few 5" amounts showing up from Lake and Starke counties, via CoCoRaHS reports: http://www.cocorahs.org/ViewData/StateDailyPrecipReports.aspx?state=IN

Central Indiana reports. Not bad for mid April.

Fox 2 is one of the worst at forecasting snowfalls that I have ever seen. They are almost never close to being right.

Going conservative is usually wise, it removes the weenie-ism from it....

Winter 2013-2014 is another story. Take what you think is going to fall and double it, then add another inch onto that total.

Wound up with about .5" or .7" on the cars and grass this morning, enough to hide the grass as well.   Temp of 23 when I woke up, car frozen shut. We got a good period of snow last evening, with some decent flake size.  With the sun up, and temps still below freezing, the snow is melting from the south facing lawns.

The snow is winding down here, it didn't end up sticking on campus. Temps hovered at 33-34 during the snow and we never got a nice heavy burst to get a coating down and let accumulations start. I can see white on the trees on the ridges surrounding campus, so it was close. Regardless, there's something about watching snow come down when the flowers and trees are blooming with trees starting to leaf out that strangely makes me happy

I can't say for certain. That average was developed using COOP data, which unfortunately isn't extremely reliable in my area either. My guess is that the true average is probably somewhere in the 28-34" range.

FWA's 1981-10 normal season snowfall is 33.5". I'd say that's a good guess/number for DeMotte.
