3/3 Winter Storm Obs

Recommended Posts

Things have tapered off here in RTP. Looking at radar looks like we might not see anything other than wet roads and cold.

Don't let the lack radar returns deceive you. No returns showing up here and light snow.

Called wife and she said it was light snow and 34 at the house(Wake/Granville boarder). I'm working in north Raleigh and it's still light rain.

The rain has almost stopped here at my office.

Had some flakes mixed in for a brief period here in Kernersville.  Now back to a mist.  It is becoming brutally cold outside with the wind and water flying around...   We're sitting right at 34 degrees and dropping.

No way those earlier projected totals in Va can be verifying unless there is a lot still to come.

They aren't... It looks like a huge bust in some areas up there.  It really sucks.  I'm not sure I could handle being forecasted for 8-12" and only getting an inch or two.

^ Yep. Looks like a long lull, followed by spotty light batches of precip later. Terrible.

Warm rain, followed by a cool rain, followed by brutal dry cold air….sounds like another RDU special... :bag:

It seems like we go through this with every system. QPF is way overmodeled...by like a factor of 5.

Mid-Atlantic Snow Amounts: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/lwx/events/snowmaps/

(It is still snowing for a little while longer, though)

It sounds like the DC metro has around 3-3.5" at the moment.  Looks like some areas in NOVA should get 6-8", though.  DC is about to get pounded for awhile, so they should add some more.
