Fun/dumb fact...but the January 2014 total of 26.9" for Indianapolis, alone, would be good for the 44th snowiest season on record (out of 129 seasons since 1884-85).

West Lafayette COOP is at 41.0". But there is some missing data. And their measurements generally suck.

 

But that would put 2013-14 at #5 all-time right now, for that station.

Yeah, it's hard to take COOP numbers seriously. But, awesome! We're at #1. I have to imagine there was probably a season that was above 56", though.

The Feb 4-5 storm total of 7.4" was the third 6"+ snowstorm of the season for Indianapolis. This ties three others for the second most in one season.

 

5 times in 1981-82 (season snowfall total of 58.2")

3 times in 2013-14 (season snowfall total of 44.5", through Feb 6)

3 times in 1977-78 (season snowfall total of 57.9")

3 times in 1973-74 (season snowfall total of 44.8")

3 times in 1895-96 (season snowfall total of 46.8")

 

Longterm average is 0.6 per year, or basically one 6"+ storm every other winter season.

I live just north of Nashville TN and will be relocating to the Marion IN area end of Feb.; needless to say, this is a change in climate but I love the snow and living in Nashville has absolutely killed me! So, what can I expect going into the Spring? Do you guys get snow in March, please! What are some things I need to do to prepare for next season? When does it usually start? Thanks!

Marion averages 3-4" of snow in March.  First flakes typically occur in October and it's not out of the question to get some sticking snow (big October snowstorms are rare but have happened) but snow chances increase a bit in November and especially after that.

Every year is different. Yes it can snow in March or April even, and we've seen snow in May though really rare.

Besides much better snow prospects, severe storm frequency compares favorably to the Nashville area.  Not sure if that's your thing though.

I am in Huntington now, which is 25 miles north of Marion. However, if you ever have any questions about the Marion area, shoot me a pm. I lived in Grant County for 25 years.
