Caveman Posted December 16, 2013 Share Posted December 16, 2013 I think the one he's talking about is this one in mid Jan 04 which is one I remember for having an advisory for similar amounts to this one but ended up waking up in the morning to 7-8 inches of pure fluff. Had a look at this one on the Ewall renanalysis page and the -10ºC line at 850mb was right through the middle of the state for this. 01_15_2004.gif What were the thicknesses during that event? There was some big time cold around for this (-35ºC 850 temps up north in Canada) and a tremendous temp gradient. Latest GFS doesn't look quite as wet either. Probably isn't worth making a forecast contest for but I feel like 2" would be a realistic number here as an (un)educated guess. Not sure looks like a uniform .15 over most of the state I would think those colder would do a little better? It is downright frigid in the north this evening, Bradford was down to a minimum of -3ºF this evening which is a record low for there (beating 0F in 1961) according to CTP. At -1 right now.
