My station at Gaithersburg 2 WNW just had 19.2" of snow during March, and is up to 56.6" of snow for the 2013-2014 winter season. This places this winter as my  4th snowiest season in my 35 years of records, only surpassed by the winters of 2009-2010, 1995-96 and 2003-04.

Other seasonal totals I know of for this winter include 83.5" in Millers MD, 88.5" in Manchester MD (both in northern Carroll County near the PA border), and 175.8" in Canaan Heights WV, at 3715' in elevation, officially known as Davis 2SE in cooperative observer terms. If interested, I can track down a few more stations locally in the DC/Baltimore area. Just reply to this post.

Thanks

Since there was a debate about measuring, I'd like to add that I don't sweep my measuring table unless it hasn't melted by the onset of the next event.  I don't care what NWS says, snow doesn't matter to me unless it is on the ground.  If it compacts, then it compacts.  I only care about what ultimately accumulates on the ground and what I can see and play in.

That measurement way is pretty bad, and there is no perfect way--

We had about 8 then sleet mixed in but it was heavy and for a while, it accumulated on top. Compression set it..but then it flipped to snow and a good half inch was on top that crust, then it was back to sleet and freezing rain and ended with another inch of snow. Not counting that snow is odd-- I mean, it was plowed, it caused havoc, etc.

our local TV guy reported it as 10, and was at 10.5..

I want that 60" contour 1 more pixel to my SE dammit!

I think I had to fudge your total as it was, to 62, so the contour would actually go past your location. I'm not drawing the contours by hand, so the process I use is taking the data and filling in gaps where data doesn't exists.

So in some cases if a location is borderline, the contour stops short depending on the data around it. I believe you are the furthest south 60" point so it wasn't actually bringing the line below you. The fudge made it do so.

That was probably incredibly confusing...

Thanks :)  I want recognition for my 60"!

Kind of surprised I'm the furthest south 60" spot.  Do you just mean in my immediate vicinity?  Most of HoCo had 60"+ except maybe the tiny sliver south of 95.

I only have a handful of spots for HoCo, you being the furthest south in the county. All others are in the 60s. But just across the way in AA county are spots in the 40s, so it's making the 50 range much larger than it probably should be due to your spot being so borderline.

Brighton Dam is mid 50s so it's pulling 50s into HoCo as well. So the 60 contour doesn't fill the while county like it probably should.

If you have other reliable points for Howard that we can use, please share them! I have only four spots in Howard right now.

Whaaaaa??!?!??! I was looking forward to the 0.1" contour color scale on a 10m x 10m grid. What kind of map girl are you?

My 0.1" last night bumped Clarksburg up to 65.2".

I meant to ask you, is your lat/long correct? It puts you smack dab in the middle of MoCo but I know Clarksburg is more northern MoCo.

I have: 39.4, -77.16 for your location which currently is surrounded by locations in the mid to upper 50s. While places northwest of you, where I think Clarksburg is, are in the 60s/70s

Still a remote chance of snow (2012 and 1978 come to mind), but I'll call this final for now.

Poor location setting (and typing) on my part.  Here's the location of my back yard, which is where all my measurements take place:  Lat - Lon:  39.234,-77.268, Clarksburg, MD.  Does that plot better?
