Not particularly feeling this one for our local area of northwest IN. I don't know. Seems like one of those that maybe ends up managing a warning for 60 mph winds which struggles to verify. What's indisputable though is the atrocious timing for purposes of tracking. Think I will grab a couple hours of sleep and then maybe take a quick look to see how things are going.
Good thing you went to bed

Time to consider if this going further west than expected could enhance the severe threat later today further east and maybe have it stretch further
Thats if the capping further to the south of the line doesn't have an impact

Texas. Well look at that, the defiance of the people of Texas managed to produce a covid variant that hopefully isn’t resistant to the vaccine.
Unfortunately there's no way to know the origin of any variant.

Hoping that May picks it up... this is pretty boring w/o severe weather.

Its funny how during the height of the pandemic there weren't as many replies in this thread as there are now with vaccinations....

Pfizer is eyeing full FDA approval pretty soon.
The pair’s mRNA vaccine is 91.3% effective against symptomatic COVID-19 disease as measured in people who have been immunized with the second dose of the shot for up to six months, the companies said Thursday.
The new efficacy data, plus a safety analysis comprising data from more than 12,000 people who were fully immunized for at least six months, allow the companies to file a drug application with the FDA to turn the shot’s emergency use authorization into a full approval, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, Ph.D., said in a statement.
The efficacy level is slightly down from the 95% number the vaccine first posted in the trial. With those data, Pfizer secured an FDA emergency use authorization in December. Since that initial analysis, more COVID-19 cases have accrued, increasing to 927 as of March 13 from the previous 170.
Of the total cases, investigators recorded 850 in the placebo group compared with 77 in the vaccine cohort. Thirty-two severe COVID-19 cases were recorded, all in the placebo group, translating into a 100% efficacy against severe disease for the vaccine.
This may be due to more real world variant exposure...

this is a story of one of my friend's cousin. He's in his 30s, a physician and otherwise healthy
I still don't get why people mess with facts on how bad this can be and NOT want to take safety precautions.

I may have missed this being posted, but good news. Perhaps the smallest study I have seen yet though, lol.
Moderna COVID vaccine offers protection for at least 6 months, study finds
by Ernie Mundell Healthday Reporter
(HealthDay)—There's good news for the millions of Americans who've already received a dose or two of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine: New research shows the vaccine should protect against illness for at least six months. The new study tracked 33 participants in the trials that led to the vaccine's approval. Six months after having received their second vaccine dose, "antibody activity remained high in all age groups," according to a team led by Nicole Doria-Rose of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Her group published their findings April 6 in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The reassuring results follow on similar findings for the other major two-dose vaccine included in the U.S. vaccine rollout, made by Pfizer/BioNTech. Trial results released April 1 by the companies found that their vaccine remains more than 91% effective six months after people get their second dose.
The new results from Moderna are based on 33 people ranging in age from 18 to older than 71. The study found that while everyone maintained high levels of infection-fighting immune system antibodies in blood samples, levels did seem to fall according to the increasing age of participants.

Yeah the back and forth is stressful over the years. Simple track one way or the other more than two days out makes one crabby.
